Trusted Pool & Spa
Building More Than Pools

Trusted Pool & Spa

Bill Gary, Trusted Pool & Spa | Construction Business Review | Top Outdoor Living and Pool BuilderBill Gary, President
Trusted Pool & Spa's story began in 2010, not as a pool construction company, but primarily as a service and repair business. Four years later, in 2014, Chris and Sylvia Hegedus built Trusted's first two swimming pools. Those were humble beginnings, and in the early years, every new construction contract was something to celebrate. Each one represented another family willing to place its confidence in a growing family business and another step forward for the company. Today, more than 150 families each year trust Trusted Pool & Spa to design and build a custom residential pool, while the company has also expanded into remodeling and outdoor living, weekly pool service, warranty and repair support, and, most recently, commercial pool construction. The scale has changed dramatically. The appreciation for being chosen has not.

That history helps explain one of the company's defining philosophies: build it right, and then stand behind it. Because Trusted's roots were in service and repair before construction, taking care of pool owners after a project is complete isn't a new initiative or an added revenue stream. It is part of the company's DNA. Today, that philosophy is expressed through its commitment to being a Pool Partner for Life. A swimming pool may begin as a construction project, but for the homeowner, it becomes part of the home, the family and the way they live. Trusted's goal is to remain the same phone call years later, whether a customer needs weekly service, warranty support, equipment repairs, a remodel or simply guidance. As President Bill Gary puts it, "We want to be the last pool builder a customer ever needs to find."

That same philosophy carries into how each pool is designed and built. More than 150 pools a year does not mean 150 versions of the same project. It means 150 individual families with different homes, budgets, priorities and visions. Trusted begins by understanding how the customer wants to use the space, whether that's for entertaining, family time, relaxation, exercise or creating an entire outdoor living environment. Its Design Center allows homeowners to work through finishes, materials and selections in person, while Oculus virtual reality technology can place them inside their proposed backyard before construction begins. Artificial intelligence is also beginning to influence visualization, communication and operations, while innovations such as Hayward's OmniX connected equipment platform are changing how homeowners interact with their finished pools. For Trusted, technology only matters if it improves the experience, creates confidence and makes the pool easier or more enjoyable to own.

Delivering that experience requires much more than a good design. Trusted has developed what it calls The Trusted Method„¢, an approach built around communication, dedicated supervision, quality control and accountability throughout the project. Customers continue to have access to their sales representative during construction, while dedicated supervisors oversee the work in the field, and construction management and company leadership remain accessible when needed. The company believes quality has to exist throughout the process, not simply be inspected at the end. Bill describes the mindset with an old saying: "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast." The objective isn't to move slowly. It is to move deliberately, complete each phase correctly and prevent avoidable problems from being pushed downstream. A checklist can support quality, but it can never replace someone who genuinely cares whether the work was done right.
  • Anybody can build a swimming pool. Not everybody builds a reputation.

Behind every system, design and piece of technology are the people who actually make the vision real. Trusted's supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, skilled tradespeople and support staff work through Florida heat, long days, weather delays, supply challenges and the unpredictable realities of construction. There is blood, sweat and tremendous effort behind every polished photograph of a completed swimming pool. Those men and women aren't simply installing plumbing, shooting gunite, setting tile, wiring equipment or managing schedules. They're building the places where children will grow up, birthdays will be celebrated, friends will gather and families will make memories for decades. "They're the real dream makers," Bill says. For him, the people doing that work are the team that makes every promise Trusted makes to a customer possible.

Today, Bill works alongside CEO and founder Chris Hegedus and Vice President and Construction Manager Austin Hegedus to carry that legacy forward. Trusted Pool & Spa has been in business for 16 years, but Chris and Bill alone bring more than 50 years of combined industry and leadership experience, even before accounting for Austin's experience growing through the company from the field up. Bill's own relationship with Trusted began as a customer, and the relationship he developed with Chris grew through shared vision, mutual respect and trust. That eventually led Bill to join the company and, in 2026, Chris entrusted him with the presidency and a role in protecting his family's legacy while helping shape its future. Austin now works alongside them as they look toward the next generation of Trusted Pool & Spa.

But growth itself is not the destination. "Anybody can build a swimming pool. Not everybody builds a reputation," Bill says. Trusted's goal is not to become the company that builds the most pools. It is to become the company people trust enough to recommend without hesitation. The company may continue to grow, its technology may evolve and its reach may expand, but the principles that brought it here remain remarkably simple: take care of people, earn their trust and treat them like family.

Deep Dive

How to Judge a Pool Builder Before Excavation

Pool and outdoor living projects become difficult to compare long before excavation begins. A lower proposal may omit supervision or later support, while a more detailed plan can carry a higher upfront cost because design decisions are settled earlier. For executives overseeing residential communities or hospitality assets, the comparison turns on how clearly a builder converts an intended use into a buildable scope and how reliably that scope survives construction. Similar bid totals can conceal different levels of design preparation and field control. Scope gaps often surface only after selections are locked or work is underway, when correction becomes more disruptive. Design development deserves scrutiny because visual appeal can hide unresolved choices. A builder should establish how the pool will be used, then connect that use to layout and finishes within the surrounding outdoor space. Renderings are useful only when they reduce ambiguity before work starts. Buyers should look for a process that lets decision-makers review materials and spatial relationships early enough to correct mismatches without pushing changes into construction. Cost discussions should also stay tied to those choices rather than to a concept image that has not been translated into a defined scope. The stronger signal is not the sophistication of the presentation but whether design tools lead to firmer decisions. Construction control is harder to judge from a proposal. Pool projects move through work performed by different trades, and mistakes discovered late can affect work already completed. Dedicated field supervision matters because accountability has to remain visible between phases. Buyers should examine who owns day-to-day oversight and how quality checks are handled. They should also know whether the person who sold the project remains accessible after the contract is signed. Schedule promises deserve the same discipline. Fast progress is useful only when one phase is not advancing before the preceding work is ready. A builder that treats inspection as a final-stage activity leaves too much room for defects to travel downstream. “Trusted Pool & Spa’s design process includes an in-person Design Center and virtual-reality visualization, while dedicated supervisors oversee field execution under The Trusted Method.” The relationship after handoff carries equal weight. Pools combine a permanent structure with equipment that will need service over time, making the builder’s post-construction model part of the purchasing decision rather than an add-on. Warranty support should be easy to reach, while maintenance or repair capability can reduce the need to introduce an unfamiliar provider after completion. Remodeling depth also matters because the same property may later need resurfacing or broader changes across the pool and surrounding space. Buyers should distinguish between a contractor organized mainly for project completion and one structured to remain responsible after turnover. That distinction is more useful than a warranty promise alone because it shows whether service capacity actually exists after construction crews leave. Trusted Pool & Spa handles custom pool construction and outdoor living work. Its service model continues beyond project completion. Its design process includes an in-person Design Center and virtual-reality visualization, while dedicated supervisors oversee field execution under The Trusted Method. Customers retain access to the sales representative during construction, and the company also provides weekly pool service, equipment repair, warranty support and remodeling. For buyers who value early design clarity and continued support after handoff, Trusted Pool & Spa merits consideration as a practical long-term builder. ...Read more
