Thank you for Subscribing to Construction Business Review Weekly Brief

Synergi has been recognized by Construction Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top Architectural Stairs Fabricator of the Year 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the Construction Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Anchal Singour, Project Manager.

Synergi
Turning Architectural Ideas into Exceptional Stairs

Synergi

A feature stair is not simply a way to move between floors. It is often one of the first things people notice and use every day. It can bring people together, express identity, and make taking the stairs more appealing.

As a feature stair specialist, Synergi offers its signature design-assist methodology to facilitate smarter design and smoother execution. The company operates from multiple corporate offices and fabrication shops, completing iconic projects across North America and the UK while delivering enhanced-value, turnkey stair solutions for large and complex projects.

Synergi stays involved from early design discussions through fabrication and installation, helping architects preserve their ideas while keeping the finished stair practical and on schedule.

Much of Synergi’s value comes from getting involved before a design becomes difficult to change. A feature stair affects the structure, slab opening, ceiling, lighting, finishes, and other trades. Its engineers review supports and connections, while the pre-construction team provides pricing and alternatives.

This involvement has produced measurable results on demanding commercial projects, where every detail matters. On a Google project, Synergi worked through engineering options for four custom floating stairs and reduced stair costs by 25 percent. On a Walmart project in Bentonville, Arkansas, early planning helped streamline design, cut costs, and drastically reduce installation time on 36 interconnected stairs for prefabrication.

Keeping the Design Intact

Synergi does not treat engineering as a reason to dilute an architect’s vision. It works hand in hand with the architect throughout the design-assist process to protect the design and ensure constructability. It might be the slimness of a stringer, the feeling that a stair is floating, continuous glass, or the warmth of a wood tread.

  • Our job is to make that moment work and to deliver it within the realities of a construction schedule.

The team then finds ways to meet structural and safety requirements without compromising those details. Licensed professional engineers and certified welding inspectors are involved, with vibration and deflection considered alongside strength. Cost is addressed early through choices involving connections, steel sections, finishes, and fabrication methods.

On the Walmart project, optimization across 36 stairs reduced steel use by 86 tons without changing the finished experience for people using the building.

Experience That Shows

Synergi now installs more than 200 feature stairs a year from its 50,000-square-foot fabrication facility in in Maryland and its affiliated fabrication partners across the country. Its projects have included work for Google, Walmart, Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase, Lego, Ferrari, and Amazon.

For complex projects, a project manager stays involved from pre-construction through closeout. That continuity matters when schedules shift, details change, and teams need answers.

“Our job is to make that moment work and to deliver it within the realities of a construction schedule,” says Anchal Singour, Project Manager at Synergi.

A More Controlled Way to Build

Prefabrication has always been an important part of Synergi’s approach. Complete stair assemblies can be fabricated and finished in the shop before reaching the site. They can then be craned into position rather than assembled through extended field work.

At Walmart, 36 prefabricated stairs were delivered across 12 office buildings. Installation time fell from a week to a day. The approach also meant less cutting and welding on site, fewer deliveries, less disruption, and better control over waste and quality.

Looking Across the Atlantic

Synergi has expanded its capabilities through the acquisition of Alpine Group UK, a company with a long history of staircase and structural steelwork in Britain.

The combination gives clients on both sides of the Atlantic a consistent way to manage projects. For Synergi, it creates room for growth without losing its hands-on approach.

After four decades of adapting to changing markets and taking on difficult projects, Synergi continues to invest in its people, systems, and craftsmanship. That direction has earned the company a clear distinction: Synergi has been named Top Architectural Stairs Fabricator of the Year 2026

Deep Dive

What to Look for in Architectural Stair Fabrication

A feature stair can be approved in design yet become difficult to build once structural connections, floor openings and neighboring trades enter the picture. Late adjustments to support details can affect fabrication costs and installation dates. For construction executives procuring architectural stair fabrication, the difficulty lies in preserving the architect's intent while establishing a buildable design before surrounding work limits the available alternatives. Early engineering involvement helps determine whether a proposed stair can be manufactured within the project's budget and structural constraints. Floating configurations and long spans introduce vibration and deflection requirements that may not be apparent in architectural renderings. A fabricator should be able to examine support locations, connection details and structural loading while the design remains flexible. This allows architects to retain defining visual elements without committing prematurely to expensive fabrication methods. Cost discussions become more productive when estimates reflect actual engineering decisions. Changes to stringer profiles or steel sections can reduce material quantities without substantially altering the appearance. Alternative connection methods may simplify installation, although savings in fabrication must be weighed against additional field work. Executives should examine how prospective fabricators develop pricing, document design revisions and communicate the financial consequences of proposed modifications. A preliminary estimate offers limited assurance when structural assumptions remain unresolved. “Synergi's project managers remain the single point of contact from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating design decisions and site requirements as construction progresses.” Site conditions introduce another source of uncertainty. Architectural drawings may not capture every deviation in slab openings or adjacent construction. Three-dimensional scanning can establish reliable measurements before components enter production, reducing the likelihood of modifications after delivery. Full-scale mockups may also help resolve complicated interfaces or finish details. The effectiveness of these methods depends on when measurements occur and whether findings reach the engineering and fabrication teams before shop drawings are finalized. Prefabrication changes the distribution of work between the fabrication facility and construction site. Shop assembly can reduce field welding and installation labor while allowing closer inspection of finished components. Large prefabricated sections, however, introduce transportation restrictions and crane-access requirements. Delivery sequencing must account for building access, lifting capacity and the readiness of surrounding trades. Contractors should compare the proposed assembly strategy against the actual site schedule rather than assuming that maximum prefabrication always produces the lowest installed cost. Quality assurance becomes particularly consequential when architectural stairs incorporate exposed structural steel or extensive glass guardrails. Welding inspection, dimensional verification and documented fabrication procedures help establish whether completed assemblies meet project specifications. Field safety also depends on how installation activities are coordinated within occupied or active construction areas. A fabricator's ability to maintain consistent supervision across engineering and site execution can reduce uncertainty when design changes continue after procurement. Synergi provides turnkey architectural stair fabrication through an integrated process covering design assist, in-house engineering, fabrication and installation. Its technical resources include licensed professional engineers, certified welding inspectors and a fabrication facility supported by quality-control procedures. Three-dimensional scanning and full-scale shop mockups help reconcile architectural details with actual building conditions before installation. Synergi's project managers remain the single point of contact from preconstruction through closeout, coordinating design decisions and site requirements as construction progresses. Its prefabrication approach also allows complete stair assemblies to be finished before delivery when project conditions permit. This delivery model is particularly relevant to general contractors managing complex feature stairs under constrained installation schedules. ...Read more
