Alex Ray, PrincipalKeeping those pieces aligned is a discipline that South Florida Seawall’s partners, including principal Alex Ray, learned before entering marine construction. Their backgrounds span multifamily and commercial construction, including senior roles at firms overseeing more than 1 billion dollars in volume. Coordinating dozens of trades and hundreds of people taught them that planning, follow-up and attention to detail keep complex work moving.
“We came to marine construction from large, complex projects and we run a seawall, dock or boat lift the same way: engineered, permitted, scheduled and priced with no surprises,” says Ray.
Today, South Florida Seawall builds, repairs and replaces seawalls, docks, boat lifts and pilings for residential, condominium, marina and commercial waterfront properties across Palm Beach and Broward Counties. The company self-performs its marine work with its own crane barges and crews. Together with its commercial construction brand, Bald Eagle Contractors, it holds six construction licenses, with in-house professionals including plumbers and electricians.
Those capabilities come together under one contract, one schedule, one warranty and one point of contact, so changes are handled internally rather than negotiated among multiple contractors.
Engineering and Planning Around What the Property Needs
South Florida Seawall puts the scope in writing, completes signed-and-sealed engineering and assembles the full permit set before mobilizing. It then works to a defined schedule through construction and close-out. Inspections and as-builts are part of the final package, so the project is documented at every stage.
It then weighs the trade-offs among materials. Reinforced concrete provides structural strength, but its steel reinforcement can corrode when chlorides penetrate the concrete. Vinyl offers corrosion resistance. Truline combines a vinyl shell with a steel-reinforced concrete core, pairing a protective outer barrier with structural mass and stiffness. The recommendation depends on the site, not a material preference.
Not every seawall needs replacement. When an existing wall can be preserved, reinforcement, drainage, polyurethane injections for void filling or cap restoration can extend its service life.
For owners making a major investment, the company does the homework upfront, breaking its pricing into individual line items and documenting the assumptions behind the proposal. When conditions change, it documents the issue, explains the required adjustment and gets approval before proceeding.
From Site Assessment to Project Execution
The team manages permits internally, tracking applications with the same followthrough used on commercial submittals and addressing review comments as they arise.
One Fort Lauderdale project shows the approach in practice. The scope included a new Truline seawall, dock and 27,000-pound boat lift, with electrical and plumbing required for the installation. Between its marine crews and construction brand Bald Eagle Contractors, South Florida Seawall had the boat lift wired, tested and running the same day it was installed.
Whether the job is a residential seawall repair or a larger commercial scope, South Florida Seawall applies the same discipline from planning through close-out. The scale changes. The process does not. That consistency underpins its recognition as Top Marine Construction Services 2026.
