People generally believe that metal roofs are stronger and more durable. However, it has been observed that traditional asphalt roofings can withstand harsh weather conditions. It can also keep water and snow from penetrating inside.

Fremont, CA: Asphalt shingles are composed of fiberglass particles interspersed with asphalt and ceramic particles. The asphalt material waterproofs the roof cover, while the fiberglass provides strength. Furthermore, the ceramic particles protect the cover from UV rays while also adding color to the shingles. But, of course, there are additional advantages to using asphalt shingles. So let us delve deep into them to fully comprehend them.

Durability

People generally believe that metal roofs are stronger and more durable. However, it has been observed that traditional asphalt roofings can withstand harsh weather conditions. It can also keep water and snow from penetrating inside. Furthermore, if properly installed, they can last for up to 50 years or more.

Various Designs

Asphalt shingles come in a wide range of architectural styles. There are three types of shingles: 3-tab, premium, and dimensional. Furthermore, certain shingles can imitate the appearance of other roofing materials, such as cedar shakes or slate.

Inhibits Algae Growth

The majority of the roofs have algae growth issues. Wooden roofs, for instance, are more prone to blue-green algae growth. However, there is no such problem with asphalt shingles.

Versatility

Asphalt shingles can be used to cover a variety of roof angles, forms, and shapes. Asphalt shingles can cover any type of roof, including a cross-hipped roof and a Dutch gable.
