Everything you Need to Know about Plumbing Systems

According to local construction codes, a good commercial plumber knows how to execute plumbing work within these three systems.

Fremont, CA: Any building's plumbing performs two primary functions. The first is to get water into the building for human consumption, and the second is to eliminate various sorts of effluent. Potable water, sanitary drainage, and stormwater drainage are the three basic types of plumbing systems. According to local construction codes, a good commercial plumber knows how to execute plumbing work within these three systems.

  • Potable Water System

The potable water system is responsible for bringing water into a structure from the community water main. Each design has a valve on the water main that can be useful to turn off the water supply. Water enters the structure via a single pipe, which gets subsequently dispersed to individual fixtures via a network of pipes.A meter measures the total amount of water that enters the structure.

         Sanitary Drainage System

The sanitary drainage system is responsible for removing wastewater from a structure. It comprises pipes that remove human waste and feces and sewage from cooking, laundry, and other sources. The sanitary drainage system gets linked to a set of vent pipes that run vertically through the roof, allowing gases to escape and the system to operate at atmospheric pressure. The sanitary drainage system is responsible for transporting wastewater to the public sewage system.

  • Stormwater Drainage System

The goal of a stormwater drainage system is to divert rainwater away from a building. Rainwater flows into the sanitary drainage system in older properties, while in more modern constructions, a separate drains system transports water to the municipal storm sewers. The stormwater drainage system includes gutters visible from the outside of the structure; other components, such as drains and pipes, are hidden underneath the ground.
