This profile has been developed by the Construction Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Michael J. Ciaccio III, Vice-President.

Arista Pool
Balancing Precision Planning With Custom Pool Construction

Arista Pool

Swimming pool construction projects often represent one of the largest investments homeowners make after purchasing a home itself. Arista Pools built its service approach around addressing a challenge the company believes many clients face throughout the industry: uncertainty surrounding project scope, hidden costs and construction expectations.

“At Arista, education is of the upmost importance,” says Michael J. Ciaccio III, vice-president.

The company structured its customer process around detailed project education from the earliest planning stages. Clients are guided through material selections, township requirements, grading considerations, long-term maintenance expectations and potential site-specific construction variables before work begins.

Arista believes this level of transparency helps reduce the surprise costs often associated with custom pool construction projects. Many properties throughout its Northeast market involve sloped terrain and elevation changes that require careful planning before excavation begins.

Its design process evolved significantly over the company’s 20-plus years in business. What once began with hand-drawn sketches now incorporates fully immersive CAD-based renderings allowing homeowners to visualize projects in detail before construction starts.

The company also intentionally limits the number of projects accepted each season. Maintaining craftsmanship, communication and project oversight takes priority over expanding production volume during the region’s limited construction season.

Building Accuracy into the Design Process

Arista differentiates its planning process by gathering detailed site measurements and elevation data during initial consultations. According to the company, those early measurements allow pool designs to be created accurately and scaled precisely to the existing property layout.

The company also performs grade evaluations during the first site visit because many local properties involve retaining walls, elevation transitions or grading modifications that can significantly affect project costs and construction planning.

By identifying those variables early, Arista believes it can minimize the unexpected expenses homeowners often encounter later during construction. The company views detailed planning as essential for maintaining project timelines and avoiding costly redesign adjustments after work begins.

Arista also integrated newer technologies into its design presentations. Clients can review proposed pool layouts from multiple perspectives while making live modifications alongside designers during meetings. The company believes these tools improve communication while helping homeowners better understand the finished project before excavation begins.
  • At Arista, education is of the upmost importance.

Its project management teams and crew leaders also maintain close oversight throughout construction to ensure each phase meets what the company describes as the Arista standard. According to the company, no two custom projects are identical, making detail management particularly important.

Managing Complex Custom Installations

One project completed in West Chester, Pennsylvania demonstrated how Arista applies its planning and coordination process to highly customized outdoor environments. The client requested a full backyard renovation that included swimming pool renovations, retaining wall construction and expansion of an existing koi pond system.

Arista began by collecting detailed measurements and elevations across the property before redesigning the space alongside the client. The company then constructed a new gunite koi pond integrated directly into the existing pond structure while also renovating the swimming pool and building new masonry retaining walls across the sloped property.

The project also required imported sandblasted marble from Turkey for wall capping and decking surfaces. Because replacement material could not be sourced quickly, Arista needed exact measurements and careful ordering schedules months in advance to avoid delays.

According to the company, the project was completed in approximately four months and delivered in time for the client to use the renovated outdoor space during the same season.

Looking ahead, Arista expects social media, online research and AI-assisted contractor searches to increasingly shape how homeowners evaluate pool builders. The company is expanding its digital presence through educational videos, drone footage and behind-the-scenes project documentation designed to help future clients better understand the construction process and company philosophy.

Deep Dive

Selecting A Swimming Pool Installer For Complex Sites

Swimming pool installation carries more construction risk than its finished appearance suggests. Excavation can expose drainage problems, unstable grades or access limits that were not apparent during early discussions. Township approvals, retaining walls, material lead times and coordination with other outdoor improvements can also shift budgets after work begins. For executives overseeing residential development, hospitality assets or managed properties, the central question is not simply whether an installer can build an attractive pool. It is whether the company can define the work accurately enough to protect cost, schedule and design intent. A dependable installer begins by treating site assessment as part of design rather than a preliminary sales visit. Measurements, elevations, drainage patterns and existing structures should shape the proposal before excavation is scheduled. Sloped properties deserve particular attention because grading changes may trigger retaining structures, revised access plans or added masonry. A proposal built from incomplete site information may appear competitive while leaving the buyer exposed to later change orders. Clear documentation of assumptions, exclusions and permit responsibilities is therefore as important as the initial price. Design capability must also extend beyond appearance. Three-dimensional renderings can help decision-makers evaluate scale, circulation and the relationship between the pool and the surrounding property before construction commits the project to a fixed layout. The strongest process allows adjustments to shape, depth, decking, water features and adjacent structures while those changes remain inexpensive. Visual tools are most useful when supported by accurate field data since a polished rendering cannot compensate for incorrect dimensions or missed elevation changes. Project control becomes the next test once construction starts. Buyers should examine who supervises excavation, structural work, plumbing, electrical coordination and finishing, along with how decisions are recorded and communicated. Custom installations often involve several trades and materials with different lead times. Imported stone, specialty finishes or integrated landscape features may require ordering well before installation. A capable provider should show how it sequences this work, manages substitutions and keeps responsibility clear when site conditions change. Long-term ownership also belongs in the purchasing decision. Equipment access, circulation efficiency, finish selection and maintenance requirements influence costs long after completion. Buyers gain more value from an installer that explains these consequences early rather than presenting design choices without practical context. Education is not an added courtesy in this market. It is a safeguard against decisions that look appealing during selection but create avoidable expense after handover. Arista Pools stands out as a premier choice for buyers that place planning discipline ahead of production volume. The company specializes in custom inground gunite pools and supports design decisions with detailed site measurements, grade evaluation and immersive CAD-based presentations. Its process addresses township requirements, material selections, maintenance expectations and site-specific variables before construction begins. Arista also limits seasonal project intake to preserve communication and oversight, an approach suited to complex properties requiring retaining walls, masonry or integrated water features. Its combination of custom design, gunite construction and close project management gives buyers a credible path from early concept to completed installation. ...Read more
